National Radio Show Host Moves Back Home To Buy Local Radio Stations

The Country Boy, Mark Porter is 100% Country! Most listeners will know Country Boy From Saturday Night Gold , some listeners know him from his work as host of Commanding the Outdoors, which he co-hosted with World Champion Turkey Caller Tucker Crisp and Duck Dynasty stars Phil and Willie Robertson. You may even know him from his appearances on A&E’s Hit TV Show Duck Dynasty. 

Mark began his Radio Career at age of 17 in Alexandria, LA. By 2012, Mark Porter had already been recognized by Radio Ink Magizine as "Radio's Rising Star", sharing the headlines with celebrities such as Howard Stern. Since that early start he has done just about everything: DJ, Music Director, Program Director, Operations Manager and long time owner of radio stations in the Houston Texas Market .

Mark began Saturday Night Gold in Alexandria, LA in 1999 as a way to have fun, interact with listeners and add spice to his station’s programming. It was an instant hit! Since then, Mark has taken his Saturday night show on the road, broadcasting live from clubs and drawing thousands to his events. The show has now been in National Syndication for over 15 years.

Along the way, The Country Boy has racked up a number of awards including several from the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters and was named one of “Radio’s Rising Stars” by Radio Ink Magazine.

Born in Beaumont, TX and raised in Deville, LA, Mark is a true “southern boy”! 

 

After selling his Houston radio stations to a Company out of Seattle,Wa, Mark decided to move back home and be be closer to family. Not long after moving home to Cenla, he realized that Central Louisiana need a real local radio company who was involved in the Community and was committed to inproving the lives of local people. So he did just that! Mark purchased four local radio stations from Stephens Media Group out of Tulsa,OK. It took roughly six months but the deal was finally finalized in late May of 2025.

And now the "Country Boy" is ready for this next adventure! Hold On! And get ready for the ride!
